Lauren is a self-proclaimed karaoke superstar who loves belting it out to Cher’s “If I Could Turn Back Time.” She spends her days biking around in big cities: London, New York, Paris, Los Angeles and Tokyo pondering why there are so many pigeons in this world yet you never see any dead ones. When she’s not biking you can usually find her peddling fake watches on a small street corner in Uzbekistan's capital, Tashkent. She loves petting cats, staring all day at the font Helvetica and cooking grilled cheese sandwiches.

“There is a universal, silent language that is spoken when petting cats in any country. I could compare it to petting dogs … but then it wouldn’t be the same.”

Born in 1961 to a military family, Carl was forced by his overly strict father to pick up a camera at an early age. As a child prodigy he worked briefly for the infant-marketed travel magazine Geo Toddler where he developed a unique style of shooting while holding his "pacifier" and drooling on his lens. Not happy with his early fame he struggled through a 12 year stint in public school to "learn" what it takes to "be a man".

As we move forward in time we find the young Carl busying himself in the world of sports, where, although suffering from vertigo, he spent several summers photographing Olympic cycling hopefuls at the Velodrome in Colorado, Springs and random shots of clouds.

Further on in his life, Carl worked at newspapers, where, on assignment, he was mistaken for a serial killer by the local police department and ushered to the mall's exit only to be saved at the last minute by his publisher's son and friend. This led him to shave the "neck beard" and go for the more "hip" soul patch which was later replaced with the KFC goatee. He no longer suffers from mistaken criminal identification but was falsely identified as the "hulkster" at a convenience store by an inebriated patron. This happened during his "crosby" period (david, not bing).

Seriously, Carl has worked for a number of newspapers, magazines, commercial clients and private individuals, creating striking, award winning imagery.
